Steel and concrete temporary road barrier solutions and vehicle attenuator systems for use on the UK’s road network.
The barrier works at the Brent Cross Interchange have been completed with a bespoke solution from Asset-VRS.
The Interchange, opened in 1976, required additional protection to substandard barriers on both the inner ring and extra protection to the flyovers bridge piers, which form part of the articulated structure.
Barry Warren, a Works Manager for FM Conway’s Structures Division, praised the team at Asset VRS for their bespoke design, work ethic, and professionalism during the works’ implementation, especially their compliance within the constraints imposed due to the COVID restrictions, confirming, “They are a pleasure to work with, being both a professional and reliable team.”
Following the initial barrier works on the inner ring at the Mid-Levels of the Interchange, where bespoke Zoneguard now offers the primary protection in front of the original substandard parapet, Asset VRS installed additional custom Zoneguard sections to the off slips and at the Mid-Levels roundabout, to protect the bridge piers.
Designing and installing four acute barrier sections, maintaining the barriers flow around the bridge structures, Barry complimented the installation team, explaining how “following the first evenings’ effort, the team confirmed a more efficient installation method. Following discussion, this was implemented successfully on the second evening.” Anthony Wright, Project Engineer at Asset VRS, added, “Being able to create bespoke barrier solutions for projects like Brent Cross can be both fascinating and challenging. Great teamwork and full customer engagement throughout all of our projects enable us to deliver protection to ageing and iconic interchanges across the network.”
Barry finished by confirming he had worked with the teams previously, and he looks forward to hopefully working together again on future projects.
