Hill & Smith PLC Apprentice of the Year 2025

We are delighted to share that Mitchell Round, Level 3 HR Support Apprentice, has been named Hill & Smith PLC Apprentice of the Year, a brilliant and well-deserved achievement that reflects his hard work, commitment, and professionalism.

Having reflected on his experience, Mitchell shared:

“After leaving an eleven year career in a completely different field, the apprenticeship has been instrumental in helping me develop new skills. Being able to apply my learning to day to day tasks has been both valuable and rewarding.

A standout moment in recognising how far my confidence, strength and adaptability had grown was during the residential trip to Mount Cook Adventure Park in Derbyshire. The combination of networking opportunities and team based activities really brought out a new sense of resilience and self-assurance.

Receiving the news that I had won was a particularly proud moment and truly validated my decision to change careers. Knowing that others recognise the value I bring to the business through the apprenticeship is incredibly fulfilling and a strong motivator as I continue preparing for my assessment day.

I would highly recommend the apprenticeship programme to anyone embarking on a new career path or stepping into a role that is rapidly evolving.”

”Since joining the business, Mitchell has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a positive attitude. He has grown in confidence and capability and continues to make a valuable contribution to the team.

This award is a real credit to Mitchell and also highlights the importance we place on investing in talent and supporting early careers.”Francesca Lamb (HR Director – Hill & Smith Infrastructure Ltd)
