CRASH ’26: Hill & Smith Infrastructure exhibiting at Passive Safety Road Safety Demonstration Day

We are pleased to confirm our participation in CRASH ’26, a key event bringing together industry experts to showcase road safety systems. Despite ongoing efforts to improve road safety, injuries resulting from collisions remain unacceptably frequent. Our highway safety solutions help mitigate the severity of these impacts.

As part of the live demonstration programme, we will be undertaking two impact tests, designed to highlight the performance and effectiveness of modern vehicle restraint systems. Our planned demonstrations include a vehicle impact into a QuadGuard Crash Cushion, validating its capability to reduce deceleration forces and mitigate the severity of collisions.

Secondly, we will conduct a controlled vehicle impact into the blunt end of a concrete barrier system to demonstrate the behaviour of the barrier at an exposed end without end treatment, highlighting the energy absorption, vehicle redirection characteristics and overall safety performance.

Our demonstrations aim to provide attendees with a real-world understanding of how different safety systems perform under impact conditions. By comparing an impact into an unprotected fixed hazard to a hazard protected with a crash cushion, we can highlight the importance of appropriate system selection in reducing roadside risk and improving overall road safety outcomes.

Electric vehicles (EV) have an ever-increasing presence on our road network. As these vehicles differ significantly from combustion powered vehicles, the crash test standards have not yet been updated to reflect this. If you’d like to learn more about this topic, our Solutions Director, Nigel Bullock, will be presenting insights from recent crash testing carried out using an EV.

We look forward to engaging with others across the industry at CRASH ‘26, sharing insights and contributing to ongoing discussions on innovation, standards and best practice in road safety.
