Project overview:

The M27 Southampton scheme required CR Civil Engineering to manage access across a shifting work zone. To address challenges around mobility, automation and cost, Hill & Smith Infrastructure supplied SentriGate, a portable solar powered system. The units were quick to deploy, easy to relocate as works progressed and provided reliable, automated access control for multiple contractors using programming remote fobs, which can be operated from up to 160 metres.

The SentriGate system allowed for major cost savings, operating at under 12% of the cost of manned access points, whilst improving safety by reducing on site disruption and enabling workers to focus on more skilled jobs.

Hill & Smith Infrastructure offered ongoing support, including retrofitting lighting to improve visibility during darker winter periods. The system’s performance and practicality were highly praised, with CR Civil Engineering noting its reliability and the enhanced protection it provided for the workforce.
